The historic Arizona Biltmore's design was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and built in 1929. You can explore the history and all the celebrities who stayed there like Clark Gable! Fun fact: Marilyn Monroe was one of the resort’s favorite frequent guests.
They even offer two tours led by historians. One is 90 minutes, exploring the art, architecture and more. It's complimentary for guests and $10 for locals. It's full of interesting tales and tidbits from the days of Old Hollywood glamour to today. Be sure to ask about the original building and what the "mystery room" was.
"Happy Hour History Tour" was recently launched! Every Friday at 6 p.m., enjoy a condensed, 45-minute tour, including two specialty cocktails that have significance to the property.
For example, the staff told us the Tequila Sunrise was originally created at the resort, and the Catalina Spritzer was Marilyn Monroe's favorite cocktail to sip on by the resort's Catalina Pool. The tour costs $20 and is open to the public.
The property has stunning views of Piestewa Peak, lawn chess, other games, and several restaurants and shops to choose from!
When you're there, pay attention to the blocks of the main building and throughout the property. Marcy Edwards, Director of Marketing Communications for the Arizona Biltmore, told us they were designed to look like the inside of a palm frond.
Since we're talking about blocks, they wanted to have a little play on words. So, you'll get to enjoy the Biltmore Block Parties on site Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through Labor Day!
Kids can enjoy snow cones, and adults can enjoy boozy ones. There is a 92-foot waterslide, glow-in-the-dark cornhole and jumbo Jenga on the Squaw Peak Lawn.
They're offering dive-in movies, themed parties with a steel drum band, island cocktails, and fiestas on Saturday with music, food, and drinks.
You can take a #Selfie with Marilyn Monroe chalk art at an Instagram-worthy station at Paradise Pool. Also, enjoy roomy and exclusive poolside cabanas outfitted with a television, mini-fridge and personal attendant.
We asked the kids in the pool if they were having a great time, and they exclaimed, "YES!" Then, they immediately returned to eating snow cones at the swim-up bar.
