EASY! Chocolate chip cheesecake bars with 5 ingredients

Posted

Elaborate desserts for picnics and potlucks? Ain't no busy mom got time for that.

Blogger Trish from Mom on Timeout posted this recipe for chocolate chip cheesecake bars that call for five ingredients. Five! As in, you can count them on one hand! In fact, she has a whole pagededicated to recipes with a few ingredients.

We weren't about to gush over it until we tried the recipe. But we whipped it up and are happy to say, it's a winner!

Here's what you need:

  • 1 18 oz. roll of pre-made chocolate chip cookie dough (or use your own chocolate chip cookie dough)
  • 1 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1 egg at room temperature
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 350 F

  • Line a 9-inch square baking dish with parchment paper or non-stick foil. (We didn't use either, instead lightly greasing the pan.)

  • Spread a little more than half of the cookie dough onto the bottom of the baking dish and press down firmly creating an even layer.

  • Beat the cream cheese until light and fluffy.

  • Add in the sugar and beat until combined.

  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until smooth.

  • Pour the cheesecake filling over the top of the cookie dough base.

  • Crumble the remaining cookie dough over the top.

  • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes.

  • Let cool completely before cutting into bars.

  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

That's it! It takes just a few minutes to make. If you buy the 36 oz. tub of Nestle Toll House cookie dough, you can make a double batch!

So in all, this recipe should run you about $5 to make a single batch!

Don't forget to check out Mom on Timeout's other recipes! If they're anything like this one, you'll want to save them. Excuse me while I try this ham and egg breakfast casserole recipe!
