PHOENIX — Going out to see a movie in theaters can be expensive, but if you know where and when to go, you can actually save a ton! Here are some affordable ways to see movies for around $5 or less!

AROUND $5:

Cinemark Mesa offers movie tickets for $5.25 on Tuesdays, including the newest movies out.

Check out this rewards program. When you become an AMC Stubs Member, you get all kinds of perks, including movie tickets for $5 on Tuesdays.

Studio Movie Grill also has a $5 deal on Tuesdays.

Throughout the year, Harkins Theatres offers Tuesday Night Classics, where you can catch the iconic flicks for only $5. Also, now through February 13, 2020, pay $35 to see seven of the nine Best Picture nominees for The Oscars, breaking it down to $5 each!

AROUND $4:

Picture Show at Superstition Springs Center gets you $4.50 tickets each day before noon. It's that same price all day long on Tuesdays.

Prices are slightly different at Picture Show at Paradise Valley Mall. Enjoy $4 movies on Tuesdays, and on other days, movies are $5 before noon.

AROUND $3 OR LESS:

Don't miss Pollack Tempe Cinemas! This place is like a movie theater meets wax museum, full of truly unique collectibles and other items. Tickets are $3.50 every day except Tuesday, when the price drops to $2.50!

Some theaters may only have second-or-third-run showings while others may be delayed a couple weeks or a month to show the latest movies.

OTHER WAYS TO SAVE:

ABC15's Things To Do Expert, Josh Frigerio, put together these following tips to help you save more:

  • Join the movie theater's rewards program. You earn points on the number of tickets and concessions you buy that can be redeemed for movie tickets or concessions. Some programs are free. Some are not. You'll have to do your research to see if it's worth it.
  • See a movie in the morning vs. at night. Many theaters have matinee pricing which is lower than the afternoon or evenings.
  • Buy tickets at the theater vs. online. That way you do not have to pay any online convenience fees.
  • Look for extra discounts. Teachers, students and military members can show their ID for discounts at some theaters. Make sure to also check the theater's promotion pages.

Have fun!
