See Sports Authority's 'Everything Must Go' sale

Recently, Sports Authority filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and now they’re closing more than 100 stores.

Four of those stores are right here in the Valley and that means everything in the store must go. But don’t rush to the stores expecting amazing deals just yet.

I did a little research and found that right now the stores are offering 20% off clearance items and 10% off regular-priced items. It may sound like a good deal, but when I actually compared the discounts to deals I found online, it wasn’t much of a saving.

This doesn’t mean the deals won’t get better. The closer the stores get to closing, the deeper the discounts will get. But remember, all sales are final.

Overall, the company’s CEOsays about 140 stores will close. They are not releasing a closing date just yet, but several employees we spoke with say they expect it to be within the next two to three months.

Below are the Valley stores that will close:

  • 1004 N. Promenade Parkway, Casa Grande (40,012 sf)
  • 7360 W. Bell Road, Glendale, (40,700 sf)
  • 1812 W. Eighth Street, Mesa (42,332 sf)
  • 4820 E. Ray Road, Phoenix (62,812 sf)

No matter when you go, don’t assume that it’s a deal just because it’s on sale. Do your research to ensure that you’re getting the best price.
