'Sweet to the Soul Boutique' always a treasure trove of handmade items

Do you need a little help to kickstart your holiday shopping? Sweet to the Soul Boutique is coming back to the Peoria Sports Complex on Saturday, November 17.

The event has grown to host more than 250 vendors since it first started in 2015. It's held twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall. It boasts an eclectic variety of items from handmade ornaments, to decorated glassware, home decor, accessories, clothing, even baked goods.

"There is seriously something for everyone here," Lindsay Persons, co-organizer of Sweet to the Soul, said. "My six-year-old son said it's his favorite day of the year. My husband loves it, he gets all of his shopping done for me here and I'm able to shop for him."

Smart Shoppers will love the early bird incentive! The first 100 adults through the gate receive a free swag bag full of locally-made products. The canvas totes are stuffed with signs, soaps, jewelry, sweets, and so much more!

The giveaway draws a line as early as 6 a.m., which is three hours before the event opens to the public.

It's been a dream come true for Persons and her friend Jennifer Cluff. They said the goal has always been to provide a venue for local artists to sell their goods, while in a fun atmosphere for the entire family.

"Buying products from local vendors is the best way you can give back and have an impact on the community," Cluff said.

Several food trucks will be there to serve hungry shoppers as well. There will also be a play area for kids.
