We caught up with one of the polo players, Natalie Grancharov Camacho! She told us that the most famous polo player, Nacho Figueras with Aspen Valley Polo Club, will be there, alongside other players from Italy, Wales, Arizona and so many more!
Camacho will be representing Arizona. It's her eighth year, though this is not her full-time gig.
"When I'm not horsing around, I'm actually a Process Engineering Manager at Intel in Chandler," Camacho said.
It's a good thing we don't have to be engineers to learn the game. I gave it a shot, no pun intended! You ride a horse, with the reigns in your left hand and the giant mallet in your right. You swing it back, and then forward to hit the ball. It was exhilarating, and I made contact several times!
Camacho explained that it's an adrenaline rush for her. She enjoys controlling a one-thousand-pound horse, moving 20-30 miles per hour, and hitting a ball the size of a tennis ball. She said that some have explained the difficulty of the game as trying to golf during an earthquake.
