During Spring Training, Goodyear Ballpark is home to the Cincinnati Reds and Cleveland Indians, but through August 1, you'll find the Treasures 4 Teachers Pop-Up Shop there inside the Team Shop!
West Valley Director Andrea Ellingboe shared that Treasures 4 Teachers realized there was a need in the west side of town, so they stepped up to the plate to make sure they could reach more teachers! Ellingboe said they plan to open a new location by the end of the year near Interstate 10 and 91st Avenue.
Ellingboe initially started as a shopper with Treasures 4 Teachers, but she's excited about this new role!
She shared with us that this temporary location has the same deals. Strike that! They have even more, including the favorites. "Five dollar Fill-A-Bag" means you get a larger bag, and any item marked "$5 Fill-A-Bag" can go into your bag. Once you fill it all the way to the top, closing the handles, you get it all for just $5!
They also have "$1 Fill-A-Bag" sections, using the same concept.
There are free sections for S.T.E.A.M. challenges, things that would take teachers forever to collect, like toilet paper rolls, tissue boxes, etc. Binders are always free too! There are also lots of books to choose from.
They also have "Priced as Marked" sections. You may find great deals on supplies right now in the big box stores, but you score amazing prices year-round on things like crayons, markers, and classroom staples (both figuratively and literally speaking).
U.S. Airways also donated a bunch of stuff, including folding chairs, insulated wine carriers and more! These are items for teachers when they're outside the classroom.
While I was there doing this story, there were several teachers in for the very first time.
Kindergarten Teacher Linda Crowther works at Lattie Coor Elementary School. She already has supplies for her room but needs supplies for another room of teachers from Arizona State University that she will be mentoring in the Avondale Elementary School District.
She was giddy checking in, and also told us about how amazing the volunteers were before she even started shopping.
Crowther said that no matter how long a teacher has been in the classroom, new supplies are constantly in demand. And with a teacher's salary, this is a great resource to support all teachers in The Valley.
Teachers, this is your season! It's game time!
A membership costs $10 at the pop-up shop, but $35 otherwise for a full, annual membership. Students, this would be a great gift to your teacher!
Steptoe & Johnson LLP has generously agreed to cover the cost of the first 500 educators (with proof of educator status) who come to shop at the Goodyear Pop-Up location.
Treasures 4 Teachers is for all educators working directly with students in our community: teachers, homeschoolers, scout leaders, faith-based educators, enrichment leaders, before and after school programs, ECE providers, and support staff.
So, use this resource to score a home run in your classroom!
