In Arizona, it's tough to keep our cold drinks cold. Our Smart Shopper team compared the Yeti, Hydro Flask and MIRA to see which kept our drinks the coldest and which offers the best value.
Each bottle held 18 ounces. We purchased them all from Amazon. The Yeti was the priciest at $29.99, the Hydro Flask wasn't much cheaper. It was $29.95, however REI has the narrow-mouthed version for about $19.00. We picked up the MIRA for $14.95.
To keep it fair, we measured one cup of water and added 20 ice cubes for each bottle. The first temperature reading was a cool 35 degrees.
Then we sat all three bottles outside at 1 p.m. That's when things started to get interesting. By 5 p.m., we checked the insides. The Hydro Flask was the coldest at 36 degrees, the Yeti at 39 degrees. Both still had ice. The MIRA however, was 61 degrees.
But there was a shift 20 hours later.
The Hydro Flask was 60 degrees, the Yeti 59 degrees! The MIRA was 75 degrees.
The Yeti won the temperature challenge, though the Hydro Flask wasn't far behind. The Hydro Flask was slightly less expensive, making it the better value!
