SCOTTSDALE, AZ — The Paradise Valley Unified School District Governing Board will have a special meeting Monday to discuss the possible resignation of Superintendent Dr. Jesse Welsh.

Action items on the agenda include "approval of resignation agreement and release for superintendent" and "assignment or employment of acting superintendent."

The district spokesperson confirmed they'll be discussing the potential resignation but said they couldn't comment before the meeting.

Dr. Welsh has been superintendent since July 1, 2019. Previously, he served as the assistant superintendent of the Clark County School District in Las Vegas.

Last week, the district went back to virtual learning.

Many parents have been pushing for schools to stay open, while others are relieved the district has gone back to virtual learning.

"I think it's just such a difficult situation, there's no playbook for this situation. I think everybody is trying to do what they think is best with the information they have," said Lisa Hoberg, whose son is a sophomore at Paradise Valley High School. "I also understand that as a governing board and as superintendent, it's a just no-win situation."

Monday's meeting begins at 1 p.m.
