PHOENIX — Airbnb is cracking down on party houses throughout Arizona.
The vacation rental company announced 50 listings across the state have been suspended or removed from the Airbnb platform after they received complaints or otherwise violated the company's policies on parties and events.
Company officials say the move follows Airbnb’s ban on party houses and commitment to safe and responsible travel.
“While a vast majority of hosts in Arizona take important steps to prevent unauthorized parties, like establishing house rules, quiet hours, and communicating in advance with their guests, our actions today address the small minority of hosts who have previously received warnings about hosting responsibility," Airbnb said in a statement.
Last year, Airbnb announced a 24/7 Neighborhood Support Hotline in the U.S., where neighbors could call anytime and reach a real person at Airbnb. The hotline is staffed with a rapid response team so that neighbors can reach a representative directly with their concerns.
Issues raised by Arizonans through this hotline led directly to many of the listing suspensions announced today, officials with Airbnb said.
The suspensions and removals impacted listings in the following Arizona cities:
- Antler Crest Estates
- Bisbee
- Chandler
- Flagstaff
- Lake Havasu City
- Mesa
- Phoenix
- Scottsdale
- Sedona
- Surprise
- Tempe
- Tucson
Airbnb has enacted initiatives to prevent party houses, including recent policy changes to prohibit hosts from authorizing parties in Arizona as long as the state’s public health mandate banning large gatherings remains in place.
