Next time you're cruising in the HOV lane, you might see a few more reminders that it's only for certain drivers.
Over the next year, the Arizona Department of Transportation will be putting up more than 250 signs warning about $400 fines for violating HOV lane rules.
The signs will be placed with the existing signs that display HOV lane schedules.
In case you're not familiar, the HOV lanes, the rules are:
- From 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday through Friday, HOV lanes are only to be used by vehicles with two or more people.
- Vehicles with Arizona "Blue Sky" license plates, buses and motorcycles can also use HOV lanes during rush hours.
