PHOENIX — The Arizona Animal Welfare League has partnered with National Mill Dog Rescue to take in 18 puppy mill survivors.

These dogs will be placed with behavioral and medical teams to prepare them for their future homes before adoption.

According to AAWL, many of the dogs they are caring for were locked in cages that could hardly fit their bodies. This occurred for years and the animals were given little to no medical attention their entire lives.

AAWL is Arizona’s largest and oldest no-kill animal shelter.
