Wildfire near Douglas grows to 5,300 acres

A wildfire near Douglas, Arizona has grown to 5,300 acres.

The Baker Canyon Wildfire is located 28 miles northeast of Douglas, just west of the Arizona/New Mexico state line. The fire is currently 5,300 acres.

Officials said access to the fire is difficult and fire managers are taking an indirect approach to the fire.

105 fire personnel are battling the fire using one type-3 helicopter and 3 engines.

No homes or buildings are threatened at this time. Officials are working with ranchers and land owners in the area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

High winds and low humidity remain a major concern for gaining control of the fire.

Due to the weather conditions, officials expect a significant increase in acreage in the coming days.
