Two people have been killed and five others hurt in a crash on Interstate 8 near Gila Bend.
Department of Public Safety officials say two people are confirmed dead, and five others are being flown by air to local hospitals for their injuries after two vehicles collided near milepost 98 Friday afternoon.
Westbound lanes were closed to allow rescue helicopters to land, DPS said.
REMINDER: I-8 WB remains closed at milepost 102. Those in the backup past milepost 102 are being rerouted onto I-8 EB and directed back to Gila Bend. Vehicles are NOT being routed around the crash. Still no estimated time to reopen the WB highway. pic.twitter.com/OatUnEba4M
