Young artists with special needs have a new way to express their creativity during the pandemic thanks to local artist Yvonne Wan.
Wan created the Focus Comic -- a comic book series about a superhero with autism. Her goal is to show the world, especially students with their own challenges, that no matter what your disability is, you can be a superhero, too.
For the next several Saturdays, Yvonne is offering free art classes over Zoom in order to social distance during the pandemic.
"I think it's important for kids to be involved in the arts, especially those with disabilities," Wan explains. "It's very empowering for the kids to focus on what they can do over what they can't do."
The program actually received one of Tempe's Vibrant City Arts grants.
The classes meet virtually on Saturdays. If you'd like more information, visit FocusComic.com.
