The Arizona Supreme Court has denied a petition for special action against a former member of the Arizona Corporation Commission.
The high court met Tuesday to consider arguments made by Susan Bitter Smith and Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich.
Brnovich said on Twitter, Bitter Smith's resignation ends the case.
Bitter Smith's resignation took effect Monday and Gov. Doug Ducey appointed former Arizona House Speaker Andy Tobin as her replacement.
Attorney General Mark Brnovich seeked Bitter Smith's removal because her work as a lobbyist for cable TV firms created a conflict of interest. Bitter Smith says she has no conflict and the court should consider the case to make sure other officeholders don't have similar problems.
