CROWN KING, AZ — Residents of Crown King and the surrounding community will be allowed to return home Friday at 4 p.m., ending evacuations that were implemented because of the Horse Fire.
Proof of residence will be required to enter the town through a checkpoint in Cleator. Non-residents will not be allowed to enter the area for now, officials said.
In total, the Horse Fire has burned 9,537 acres since it was discovered northwest of Crown King on October 15. It is now 63% contained, officials said.
About 300 structures were reported as "threatened" on October 16 from the fire, but firefighters were able to keep those structures safe.
