PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ — A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Prescott Valley for sexually assaulting a teen girl and offering drugs to keep her silent.

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says Lawton Thompson had rented a room from a family member of the victim. While staying at the home, Thompson reportedly made advances on the girl, who is a teen under the age of 15.

When the girl asked Thompson to stop, he reportedly restrained her and continued the sexual assault. The girl was able to escape when someone knocked on the door.

Thompson was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the assault and offered the victim drugs and money to not tell anyone what had happened.

The victim eventually told a family member of the alleged assault. Thompson has been arrested on charges including sales of marijuana, involving a minor in drug offense, sex abuse of a victim under 15, molestation of a child, and kidnapping. He is currently in custody on a $150,000 bond.
