GRAND CANYON NATL PARK, AZ — A man has died after a skydiving crash landing at the Grand Canyon.

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office says 55-year-old Christopher Swales had purchased a skydiving package from Paragon Skydive.

During a tandem jump, CCSO says the two “encountered difficulties” when approaching the landing area. The two then began to free-fall and hit the ground near the Grand Canyon Airport.

The Paragon Skydive worker suffered a broken leg and was hospitalized.

Swales, who was visiting from the United Kingdom, was unconscious when first responders arrived and pronounced deceased at Flagstaff Medical Center.

CCSO says there are no indications of foul play.
