Several getaways close to the Valley had restrictions in place due to heavy traffic for several hours over the holiday weekend.

Maricopa County deputies said Needle Rock/BoxBar, Pebble Beach, Blue Point, Butcher Jones and Water Users reached capacity around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Four hours later, officials also closed the west end of Lake Pleasant for the same reason.

A post on the Lake Pleasant park's Facebook page said the closure of the park would prevent any new entries.

The east end, Pleasant Marina, is not controlled by the county and remained open, according to MCSO.

The lake planned a fireworks display to celebrate the Fourth of July Sunday night.
