Deputies from the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Lake Patrol rescued a small dog early Saturday morning after discovering the pup on the side of the road near Salt River.
The dog, breed unknown, looked like it had been thrown from a car. When deputies found the small animal, they believed his legs were broken, according to a tweet by MCSO's Public Information Officer, Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez.
MCSO named the dog 'Tadpole' and took him to a vet for further evaluation.
Sadly, Tadpole's injuries were worse than MCSO anticipated.
"He has a broken spine as well, the vet can not save him," Enriquez tweeted.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call MCSO at 602-876-1011.
I sad update to our friend Tadpole. He has a broken spine as well, the vet can not save him. Great job by our Lake Patrol Deputies on the effort and we will be looking for any information that might lead us to anyone responsible for this abuse. pic.twitter.com/dOFVyu09f3
