PHOENIX — Businesses are beginning to reopen, but there is still a long road ahead to economic recovery. That's why the non-profit group Chicanos Por La Causa created an online resource for families.

Cathy Higuera Keppel, with Chicanos Por La Causa, says when COVID-19 hit, the state reached out to them for help connecting with the Latino community.

“The state of Arizona had reached out to us and there was a big concern that there was a lack of reaching this community," she said.

So the organization created CPLC Conexión. The site launched in April and the text is interchangeable between English and Spanish.

Higuera Keppel says it started off by just answering questions about COVID-19, like where to get tested and the guidelines in place. She says it has since grown into so much more, with resources for just about everything.

She says it's an effort to help a community that's often underrepresented.

"A lot of these families live paycheck to paycheck. They work hard and then they're told now stay home. They don't necessarily have big nest eggs to fall back on," she said.
