Two people are dead, and one is recovering after a murder-suicide early Saturday morning in Springerville, Arizona.

According to a press statement released by the Springerville Police Department, 34-year-old Justin Taylor forcefully entered the motel room of his wife, 34-year-old Alissa Taylor and 37-year-old Juan Antonia Lopez, and began shooting.

Taylor and Lopez were staying at the Reeds Motel, with Lopez’s five children staying in an adjoining room.

The children were able to call police when the shooting occurred, according to a report in the White Mountain Independent. None of the children were injured, Springerville Police say.

Lopez was shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alissa Taylor was also shot multiple times but was able to escape the room and hide. She was transported to Scottsdale Osborne Hospital on Saturday and is currently recovering from her injuries, police say.

After opening fire on Lopez and Alissa Taylor, Justin Taylor exited the motel room and took his own life, police say.

Alissa and Justin Taylor were married and residents of Springerville. Lopez was from Kearny, Arizona. The relationship between Alissa Taylor and Lopez is unclear.

The investigation is ongoing.
