The Pinal County Sheriff's Office says the parents of a child that was found Monday morning in San Tan Valley have been located.
Just after 7:30 a.m. deputies responded to an area near Gary Road and Hunt Highway after a citizen found a 3-year-old girl who was wearing Peppa Pig pajamas.
Deputies checked the surrounding area for the girl's parents but were unsuccessful. The child was taken back to a PCSO substation.
Just after 10 a.m. deputies said the girl's parents drove up to a deputy after seeing a Facebook post asking for help in locating the child's parents. The mother told deputies she had left their home and had left the child under the supervision of an older teenage sibling; the child's father was on his way home from work.
The mother said there was a miscommunication as to who was going to be taking care of the 3-year-old.
The parents of the child are not facing charges.
