A new ABC15/OH Predictive Insights poll shows when it comes to issues, those who place themselves in the middle of the ideological spectrum have preferences which look much more like Democrats than Republicans.
Statewide, the poll found 33 percent believed immigration should be the top issue, while 31 percent said it should be education. When broken down by ideology, more than half who said they more identified to varying degrees as a conservative overwhelmingly favored immigration, while liberals strongly picked education. For moderates, 45 percent said education is the most important issue and only 8 percent said immigration, results which aligned with responses from liberals.
“Democrats have not won an Arizona US Senate election since 1988,” said Mike Noble, managing partner and chief pollster at OH Predictive Insights. He characterized the results as a “golden ticket” for Democrats.

Forty-nine percent of respondents said they identified as very, somewhat or leaning conservative, with 35 percent identifying as somewhere on the liberal spectrum. Moderates make up the remaining 15 percent.
“Conservatives still make up half of Arizona, but moderates have the power to turn Arizona from a red state into a purple one,” said Noah Rudnick, a data analyst with OH Predictive Insights.
