A short stretch of road in Arizona was the setting for three deadly accidents in the past week.
On Monday and Wednesday of last week, two deadly rollovers happened on the Interstate 10 near Riggs Road.
On Sunday morning,a wrong-way crash killed three people. Police say the driver of that car was a 71-year-old man with age-related mental illness.
There were different circumstances for each crash, but all occurred within close proximity of the Riggs Road exit near mile marker 167.
ABC15's Operation Safe Roads reported on a stretch of road, including that area, that the Arizona Department of Transportation is looking to improve and make safer. In the Summer of 2019, ADOT painted the speed limit on the asphalt itself in an effort to make drivers more aware.
A 26-mile stretch of road from Highway 347 to Highway 387 is currently the subject of a study by the Arizona Department of Transportation. The study is looking into the possible expansion of the highway from two lanes in both directions to three lanes.
