As the countdown to November 3 continues, ABC15 is taking action to help voters stay well-informed as they fill out their ballots.
One of the biggest issues on the ballot is Proposition 208, otherwise known as "The Invest in Education Act."
If passed, it would enact a 3.5% income tax surcharge on single filers making more than $250,000 per year, or married couples filing jointly who make more than $500,000 per year. Supporters say it will generate $940 million in much-needed funding for education, while those opposed say the surcharge will devastate our state's economy.
On Thursday, October 15, ABC15's Steve Irvin moderated a Facebook Live Town Hall focused on both sides of the issue.
Guests included Glenn Hamer, president and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and David Lujan, one of the authors of Prop 208 and director of the Arizona Center for Economic Progress. Both participants shared their side's perspective and answered viewer questions.
