PHOENIX — One person was seriously injured and another man is in custody after a shooting involving Phoenix police officers Tuesday afternoon.
Officers were called to 35th Avenue and Bell Road for reports of a person "waving a gun in the air" around 3:30 p.m.
According to police, when two officers arrived, "one person ran towards the police car, pointing a gun," and that is when an officer fired his gun.
The alleged suspect, who was identified as 21-year-old Devin Thompson was later taken to a hospital.
Officials say Thompson was released from the hospital weeks later and has been booked into jail.

Police say they were able to retrieve two guns from each of the suspects.
Officials say there are no other outstanding suspects and there is no threat to the community.
No officers were injured, according to Phoenix police.
