Officer Rutherford’s funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Christ’s Church of the Valley, located at 7007 W. Happy Valley Rd. in Peoria.
A procession will follow the funeral services to Phoenix Memorial Park and Cemetery, at 200 W. Beardsley Rd. in Phoenix.
Arizona Department of Transportation officials say drivers should expect some restrictions on Loop 101 and streets around the funeral schedule.
ADOT says a police motorcade will escort the funeral procession southbound on 67th Avenue from Happy Valley Road to Loop 101 following the 10 a.m. service. Eastbound Loop 101 will be temporarily closed at 75th Avenue while the procession is approaching the freeway. Eastbound Loop 101 traffic exiting at 75th Avenue can detour along the Beardsley frontage road, but expect delays. Some on-ramps between Bell Road and 7th Avenue will also be restricted, and Interstate 17 ramps to Loop 101 will be closed near the freeway-to-freeway interchange.
Officer Rutherford is survived by his wife of 30 years, two adult sons and their wives, a grandson, his father and mother, two brothers and a sister.
An all-day fundraiser through Phoenix Law Enforcement Association Charities is being held on Monday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Breakfast and BBQ will be served at the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association, located at 1102 W. Adams St. in Phoenix.
