Small Stars: Archery students aim high at Gethsemane Lutheran School in Tempe

“My teachers name is Miss Hoffman, she's super nice... and, we are shooting the targets and we're making tiny little holes in them with the arrows!” That’s right Sam, this is Mrs. Hoffman’s fourth grade archery class at Gethsemane Lutheran School in Tempe.

Yep, a fourth grade archery class! But as Nora tell us, there’s one thing you should always keep in mind, “That you can kill someone... hahaha.” No laughing matter. In fact, Mrs. Hoffman has a lot of rules in place to avoid such a dreadful thing.

Meanwhile, Kailyn has all the intricacies of the sport down pat, “It's a bow and an arrow and you shoot it.” Well Said!

The good news is, this isn’t the kid's first lesson. Just ask Keira what she knows about archery, “Nothing. Because I was sick on the day that we did it. Hahaha.”

Ok, ok, not everybody’s a seasoned veteran. Sam is though, and he tells us what he likes about the sport, “The best thing is that you can enjoy it and have fun shooting.”

Unfortunately, Gia can’t participate today, “I can't do archery because I don't have a string bow and I don't have money.” But that may not be the real reason Gia’s a little hesitant, “I'm not good at it and I'm not, whenever I go like this I don't get a bullseye.”

But wait, we interrupt this Small Stars for an important announcement from Nora. “This is breaking news on ABC15. Back to you.”

Thanks Nora, and thanks to the kids in Mrs. Hoffman’s archery class, you’re this week’s Small Stars! “It's nice to see you today,” Gia says, “Have a great day, bye bye.”
