The Pac-12 has officially decided to suspend its 2020 football season.

The Pac-12 announced the move during a press conference Tuesday afternoon. The conference hopes to reschedule the season sometime in early 2021 if COVID-19 conditions improve.

“The health, safety and well-being of our student-athletes and all those connected to Pac-12 sports has been our number one priority since the start of this current crisis,” said Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott. “Our student-athletes, fans, staff and all those who love college sports would like to have seen the season played this calendar year as originally planned, and we know how disappointing this is.”

Last month, the Pac-12 did away with non-conference football games, announcing a 10-game schedule for each team. Those games will no longer take place.

The move also delays the start of the Pac-12 basketball season, which typically starts in November.
