Jeff Bower will be the Phoenix Suns' next senior vice president of basketball operations, Arizona Sports 98.7 FM's John Gambadoro reported Wednesday.
The 57-year-old Bower served as the general manager of the Detroit Pistons from 2014-18, and he previously served as general manager and head coach of the New Orleans Hornets. He helped guide the Pistons to the playoffs in his second season as GM.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Bower "will work in a reshaped front office" with interim general manager and former Suns guard James Jones. Former Suns GM Ryan McDonough was fired in October, just days before the 2018-19 regular season began.
Wojnarowski reported Sunday that Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, a close friend of Suns owner Robert Sarver, has sat in during the Suns' front-office interviews.
The Suns just wrapped up their 2018-19 season, finishing with a 19-63 overall record. The Suns haven't made the playoffs since 2010.
