After opening the 2015 season as a starter, Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Archie Bradley will likely begin the 2016 season as a minor leaguer.
The D-backs optioned the 23-year-old right-hander to Triple-A Reno, the team announced Tuesday. Fellow right-hander Tyler Wagner, left-hander Keith Hessler and outfielder Gabriel Guerrero were also optioned to Reno.
In addition, outfielder Zach Borenstein was reassigned to minor league camp.
Bradley opened the 2015 season with three straight outstanding starts (two victories) before he was hit in the face by a line drive in his fourth start. Bradley missed three weeks of action and wasn't able to recapture his previous form when he returned to the D-backs' rotation.
