The Arizona State Sun Devils' first-ever NCAA hockey game was memorable for so many reasons.
A game at an NHL arena, an incredible atmosphere with 5,385 fans, and a blowout victory over their archrivals.
The Devils skated by the Wildcats 8-1 on Saturday night at Glendale's Gila River Arena, the Arizona Coyotes' home ice. The game was ASU's first of the season and first at the NCAA Division I level.

Coach and former ASU goalie Greg Powers led the Devils to a 2013-14 ACHA championship.
"It's a dream come true. It really is," Powers said after Saturday's game. "For me and so many people that have supported and ran this program for years and to have an atmosphere like that and a win like that in front of a lot of fans in a great arena ... I would have never predicted it."
