Valley woman shines on 'Broken Skull Challenge'

Posted

On Thursday, we told you about Chandler resident Analisa Marquez, a pro soccer player-turned CrossFitter who was set to appear on "Steve Austin's Broken Skull Challenge" on Sunday night.

If you were watching Sunday, you know that Marquez did not disappoint. In a show that began with eight competitors, the University of Arizona grad was one of the two last women standing before she was edged out in the finals.

But Marquez has no regrets -- and if she's invited to compete again, she'll be there in a heartbeat.

"I think I would love to do that again. It was a lot of fun. It was a great experience," she said.

After winning one-on-one battles in a tug-of-war and a barrel pull to advance to the finals, Marquez faced off against the other finalist in "The Pit" -- a wrestling match in which the first competitor to have a body part touch outside the pit was eliminated.

After a lengthy battle, Marquez came up just short, as her elbow hit the outside of the ring -- and she was denied the chance to win the show's $10,000 prize.

Afterwards, WWE superstar "Stone Cold" Steve Austin called it "the best pit we've had at the Broken Skull Ranch" in three seasons.

Marquez said Austin was "super supportive" and a blast to be around -- and so were the people behind the scenes.

"The production team was super, super awesome. So I would hands-down go again," she said.
