The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed former Scottsdale resident and Arizona State Sun Devils alum Merrill Kelly to a two-year contract, the team announced Tuesday.

Kelly, a pitcher who attended Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, has spent the last four years with the SK Wyverns of the KBO League in South Korea. He went 48-32 with a 3.86 ERA during his time there, and he helped lead the Wyverns to the 2018 Korean Series championship.

The 30-year-old Kelly attended Yavapai College before playing baseball at ASU. If he joins the D-backs' MLB roster, he would become the fifth player in team history to play high school, college and professional baseball in Arizona. Pitcher Jake Barrett, catcher Tuffy Gosewisch, infielder Cody Ransom and pitcher Ed Vosberg are the four players who have already done so.
