Rob Gronkowski just became the first New England Patriots player and first tight end to appear on the cover of one of the highest grossing video-game series of all-time.

He's the first Arizona Wildcat to appear on the cover, too.

Gronkowski, a four-time All-Pro and Pro Bowler, will appear on the cover of Madden NFL 17. The announcement was made official on ESPN's SportsCenter on Thursday afternoon.

The 26-year-old Gronkowski played for the Wildcats from 2007-09. He set UA single-game, season and career records for a tight end in total receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns.

Gronkowski sat out his junior season with a back injury and then decided to declare for the NFL Draft after the season. He became a world champion in 2015 when he helped guide the Patriots to the Super Bowl XLIX championship in Glendale.

It's been quite a day for Gronk, as he appeared on the cover of GQ magazine earlier on Thursday.
