The Gilbert Williams Field High School star is rated as the nation's No. 1 recruit at the kicker position for the Class of 2017, and it's easy to understand why.

Well, on Friday, Ruiz made it official: He's taking his kicking talents to Tuscaloosa to play for the defending national champions.

Ruiz chose Alabama over local options Arizona and Arizona State, both of which offered him a scholarship. The 5-foot-10, 165-pounder also had offers from Tennessee, Iowa State, Oregon State, Army and Navy.
