Upon first glance, it appears the Phoenix Suns' Gorilla momentarily lost its mind during the fourth quarter of the Suns' game vs. the visiting Washington Wizards on Tuesday night.

In the first minute of the final quarter, the Gorilla was seen sliding on the court during the middle of a play, much to the surprise of a Wizards player nearby.

Fortunately, a viewer took a closer look and discovered the Gorilla's act wasn't an act of insanity, but rather an act of bravery, as he dove to grab a drum stick that made its way on the court and could have injured an unsuspecting player.

The Gorilla's heroics didn't quite translate into a Suns victory, as they fell to the Wizards 131-127. But Valley fans were reminded once again that the Gorilla remains the greatest mascot in all of professional sports.
