Cleveland Indians pitcher Trevor Bauer received a series of hateful messages, including some death threats, after a rough game against the White Sox on Monday. In a tweet following the game, Bauer shared several screenshots of messages he received on Instagram.

It was a rough night for Bauer as he matched career highs by allowing eight runs and seven earned runs in five-plus innings, and his ERA rose from 2.45 to 3.42. The White Sox dominated the Cleveland Indians 9-1.

One Instagram message said, “I really hope you and your family die in a car crash. And it’s actually gonna happen.”

Another user said asked Bauer a question, “Could you please kill yourself?”

Some came to Bauer's defense, calling the messages "vile" and "terrible."

Bauer tweeted at Instagram asking why there isn’t a way to report the hateful messages. "Do you condone this type of behavior on your platform?"
