FOREST LAKES FIRE DISTRICT, AZ — A head-on collision near Heber killed 4 people, hospitalizing two Monday.
According to police, at around 12:30 p.m. the head-on collision happened at SR-260 at milepost 300, around 4 miles west of Heber.
Highway 260 is closed indefinitely in both directions at mile marker 300.
Eastbound traffic is backed up to mile marker 297.
The Arizona Department of Transportation is currently alternating eastbound and westbound traffic around the crash for the duration of the on-scene investigation and road clearing.
Two victims with serious injuries have been transported to the hospital by helicopter.
The Arizona Department of Public safety Vehicular Crimes Unit detectives are leading the investigation.
Impairment has not been ruled out.
