Holiday travel is expected to be up nationwide, with as many as 100 million people hitting the roads or skies, according to AAA.
Here in Arizona, 1.4 million are expected to travel over the holidays, with about 60 percent traveling on the roads. Low gas prices are contributing to the increase in drivers, with the state average at just $1.99 a gallon.
The Arizona Department of Transportation is also reminding drivers to stay safe this holiday season and be sure to check weather forecasts before heading out.
ADOT and it's contractors will give drivers a break with no full highway construction closures over the holiday weekends.
