Our cars are getting increasingly safer with new technology, but does that translate into safer roads?
A new poll from the Property Insurers of America shows that’s not that case.
Vice President Robert Gordon says distracted driving is one of the most dangerous behaviors on the roads today, and the list of apps that people use behind the wheel is scary.
“Google Maps, in one of the latest studies, was number one,” says Gordon. “What really surprised me was Pokemon Go was number two, so you have drivers driving around trying to capture Pokemon while they are driving. We also have in the top ten YouTube videos and Netflix, so people are watching movies while they drive."
While smartphones are a big one, another concern is driving under the influence of drugs, especially as states legalize marijuana.
Gordon also says that parents can be a good example to their teens when it comes to safe driving habits.
