A pedestrian is dead after being struck by a vehicle near Northbound State rote 87 at Gilbert Road, according to the Salt River Police Department.
The deadly crash occurred shortly after midnight on Wednesday, according to police.
Northbound State Route 87 was closed at Gilbert due to the crash but has since reopened.

Police were not able to provide any information regarding the deceased’s identity. They say it is too early to determine if impairment was a factor in the crash.
The driver who struck the pedestrian did stay on scene, according to police.
