Two dead, another hospitalized after crash near 43rd and Dunlap avenues

PHOENIX — Two people are dead and another is hurt after a crash near 43rd and Dunlap avenues Wednesday afternoon.

Police believe the driver of a Ford was driving northbound on 43rd Avenue at a high rate of speed when it crashed into a Toyota, which was making a left-hand turn.

79-year-old Janette Oviatt, who was a passenger in the Toyota, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, identified as 80-year-old Thomas Oviatt was taken to the hospital where he died.

The driver of the Ford was also taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Impairment does not appear to be a factor in this crash.

The investigation is still ongoing.
