Weekend Construction (February 28 - March 2): Five freeways have closures

Editor's note: In an update on Friday afternoon, ADOT said the planned closure of the Loop 303 between I-17 and Lake Pleasant Parkway this weekend has been postponed. Because of that, we have removed that entry from the story.

There are several major freeway closures and restrictions in place this weekend, February 28 through March 2, affecting parts of Interstate 17, Interstate 10, Loop 202 Santan, Loop 101, and Loop 303, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Here is ADOT's Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory:

Northbound Interstate 17 closed at Pinnacle Peak Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 29) for bridge construction.

Southbound I-17 also closed at Pinnacle Peak Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 29).

Northbound I-17 on-ramp at Deer Valley Road and southbound on-ramp at Happy Valley Road closed.

Pinnacle Peak Road closed in both directions at I-17.
DETOUR: I-17 traffic will detour along the off- and on-ramps at Pinnacle Peak Road. Alternate routes include 19th Avenue in either direction between Deer Valley and Jomax roads.

Eastbound Interstate 10 closed between 67th and 43rd avenues from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday (March 2) for construction near the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange.

The eastbound I-10 on-ramps at 83rd, 79th and 75th avenues will be closed. The northbound Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) ramps to the eastbound I-10 will be closed.
DETOUR: Consider alternate routes including northbound and eastbound Loop 101 in West Valley. Eastbound I-10 traffic exiting at 67th Avenue can use eastbound Van Buren Street.

Eastbound Interstate 10 closed at Fairway Drive (east of Dysart Road) from 9 p.m. Friday to 1 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 29) for bridge construction at future interchange.

Eastbound I-10 on-ramps at Litchfield and Dysart roads closed.
DETOUR: I-10 traffic will detour along the new off- and on-ramps at Fairway Drive. Alternate routes include eastbound McDowell Road or Van Buren Street to Avondale Boulevard to reach I-10. Note: Eastbound I-10 drivers planning to travel beyond Phoenix area (toward Tucson) could consider using southbound State Route 85 in the Buckeye area to eastbound I-8 to avoid this weekend’s eastbound I-10 closures.

Westbound Interstate 10 closed at Fairway Drive (west of Avondale Boulevard) from 10 p.m. Saturday to 1 p.m. Sunday (March 1) for bridge construction.

Westbound I-10 on-ramps at 107th Avenue and Avondale Boulevard closed.
DETOUR: I-10 traffic will detour along the off- and on-ramps at Fairway Drive. Alternate routes include westbound McDowell Road or Van Buren Street to Dysart Road to reach I-10.

Eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) closed between Interstate 10 and Loop 101 (Price Freeway) from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 2) for pavement improvements. All I-10 ramps to eastbound Loop 202 closed.
DETOUR: Alternate routes include eastbound Chandler Boulevard, Ray Road or US 60 (Superstition Freeway). Detour routes to businesses near Kyrene Road south of Loop 202 include Chandler Boulevard or Ray Road to southbound Kyrene Road.

Southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) closed between Warner Road and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 2) for freeway widening project.
DETOUR: Alternate routes include the southbound Price frontage road as well as southbound Dobson Road to reach eastbound Loop 202 or southbound McClintock Drive to reach westbound Loop 202. Note: Eastbound US 60 ramp to southbound Loop 101 closed from 5 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday (March 1) for construction. Consider alternate routes including southbound McClintock Drive or Dobson Road.

Southbound Loop 303 closed at Peoria Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to noon Saturday (Feb. 29) for installation of traffic flow sensors as part of freeway technology project.
DETOUR: Traffic will detour along the off- and on-ramps at Peoria Avenue. Note: The westbound Northern Parkway ramp to southbound Loop 303 closed overnight from 10 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 29). Consider using southbound Sarival Avenue to westbound Glendale Avenue to reach Loop 303.

Southbound Loop 303 closed between Grand Avenue (US 60) and Bell Road from 10 p.m. Saturday to noon Sunday (March 1) for traffic flow sensor installation.
DETOUR: Traffic can detour on eastbound Grand Avenue to southbound Reems Road and westbound Bell Road to reach Loop 303.
