Expect possible delays due to the closures on Loop-101 in northeast Scottsdale and I-10 through Phoenix, along with a higher volume of traffic for events in the West Valley.
The closures are for improvement projects, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Here is the information provided in the Weekend Freeway Travel Advisory:
- Westbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Pima Road/Princess Drive and Scottsdale Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 25) for placement of temporary barrier and lane-stripe adjustments as part of a freeway widening project. Expect heavy traffic and use alternate routes. DETOUR: Alternate routes include (1) taking westbound Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and re-entering the freeway at Scottsdale Road, 56th Street, Tatum Boulevard or State Route 51; and (2) exiting Pima Road/Princess Drive, traveling north on Pima Road, west on Thompson Peak Parkway and south on Scottsdale Road to re-enter Loop 101.
- Eastbound I-10 closed between 67th and 51st avenues from 9 p.m. Friday to 8 p.m. Saturday (March 23) for construction of South Mountain Freeway interchange. Eastbound I-10 on-ramps at 91st, 83rd, 79th and 75th avenues also closed. Access roads will remain open. DETOUR: To avoid delays, consider alternate routes including Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) west of Interstate 17 or exiting I-10 sooner and taking local streets to re-enter past the closure.
- Pecos Road in Ahwatukee closed between 40th and 32nd streets from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (March 25) for South Mountain Freeway drainage, traffic signal, intelligent transportation system technology and lighting installations. Pecos Road restricted to westbound traffic only between 32nd and 24th streets. Access to Pecos Storage maintained from 32nd Street. DETOUR: Alternate routes include Chandler Boulevard.
- HOV connecting ramp from westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) to northbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) in Chandler closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (March 23) for re-striping. DETOUR: Westbound Loop 202 drivers can connect to Loop 101 using general travel lanes.

Remember, Cirque du Soleil: Amaluna is under the big top at State Farm Stadium, and Garth Brooks is in town this weekend for a concert. So, congestion around State Farm Stadium is possible on the surface streets through Glendale and Peoria, as well as the freeways to and from the location.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend!
