Weekend traffic alert (November 8-11): Plan for restrictions along parts of Loop 101, Loop 202

PHOENIX – Freeway improvement project restrictions are scheduled in the Phoenix area this weekend (Nov. 8-11), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers should allow extra travel time, consider alternate routes and focus on safe driving while the following restrictions are in place:

  • Westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) narrowed to one lane near Kyrene Road in Chandler from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Nov. 11) for South Mountain Freeway construction. Allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes. Westbound Loop 202 (South Mountain Freeway) interim lanes in Ahwatukee closed between 40th and 32nd streets and eastbound Loop 202 closed between 24th and 40th streets from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Nov. 11) for paving. Both I-10 ramps to westbound Loop 202/Pecos Road also closed.
  • DETOUR: Alternate routes include Chandler Boulevard. Drivers on westbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) or southbound Loop 101 (Price Freeway) in Chandler can connect with I-10 by exiting to southbound Price Road and using westbound Queen Creek Road to I-10.
  • Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) narrowed to two lanes in both directions between Seventh Street and Seventh Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Nov. 11) for widening project.
  • DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching the traveling through work zones.
  • Scottsdale Road closed in both directions at Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (Nov. 11) for bridge work as part of widening project. Loop 101 on-ramps at Scottsdale Road will remain open.
  • DETOUR: Alternate routes for through traffic include Hayden Road. Scottsdale Road drivers approaching closure also can enter and travel on Loop 101 to the next interchange before turning in order to re-enter freeway (in other direction) and exit at Scottsdale Road.
  • Westbound I-10 on-ramp at 67th Avenue closed from 5 a.m. to noon Saturday (Nov. 9) and the westbound I-10 on-ramp at 75th Avenue closed from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 9) for traffic-sensor installation.
  • DETOUR: Consider other nearby westbound I-10 on-ramps, including 83rd Avenue.
  • Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) off-ramp at Van Buren Street closed overnight from 10 p.m. Friday to 4:30 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 9) for sign work.
  • DETOUR: Consider exiting westbound Loop 202 at the Center Parkway off-ramp.
