Drivers should expect a few big closures on Loop 101 and Loop 202 this weekend, as crews work on improvement projects on Valley freeways. The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends planning ahead and considering alternate routes while the following scheduled restrictions are in place:

Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) closed between Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and Thomas Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 18) for rubberized asphalt paving. Both Loop 202 ramps to northbound Loop 101 closed. DETOUR: To avoid heavy delays, consider alternate routes including westbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) to westbound Interstate 10 to northbound State Route 51 or Interstate 17 to reach north Valley. Northbound Loop 101 traffic will detour to Loop 202, but expect delays

Southbound Loop 202 closed between University Drive and Elliot Road in east Mesa from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 18) for rubberized asphalt paving. Both US 60 (Superstition Freeway) ramps to southbound Loop 202 closed. DETOUR: Local detours include southbound Ellsworth or Sossaman roads. Please consider alternate routes to avoid heavy traffic approaching freeway closure.

Southbound Interstate 17 closed overnight at Deer Valley Road from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (April 16) for maintenance. DETOUR: Southbound I-17 traffic exiting at Deer Valley Road can use frontage road to re-enter I-17 at Rose Garden Lane.

Southbound Interstate 17 closed overnight at Happy Valley Road from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 18) for maintenance. DETOUR: Southbound I-17 traffic will detour along the off- and on-ramps at Happy Valley Road.

Northbound Interstate 17 narrowed to two lanes overnight between Camelback Road and Peoria Avenue from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 18) for pavement repair. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and driving through work zone.

Southbound Loop 303 off- and on-ramps at El Mirage Road closed from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 18) for ongoing interchange construction. Southbound Loop 303 access to and from El Mirage Road not available until early Monday. DETOUR: Drivers can instead use local detour via the Loop 303 interchange at Happy Valley Parkway (use 117th Avenue and Williams Drive to reach El Mirage Road). NOTE: All four ramps at Loop 303/El Mirage Road interchange scheduled to open by 5 a.m. Monday (April 18).
