Drivers will see closures or lane restrictions on Valley freeways this weekend for improvement projects.
The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers plan ahead, consider alternate routes or adjust travel schedules and use caution in work zones while the following restrictions are in place:
Eastbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) ramps to north- and southbound I-17 in north Phoenix closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 16) and from 9 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 17) for maintenance. DETOUR: Eastbound Loop 101 drivers can connect with I-17 via 35th or 27th avenues to Rose Garden Lane (to enter northbound I-17) or Yorkshire Drive (to enter southbound I-17). Consider alternate routes.
Southbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to one lane at Broadway Road (approaching US 60) in Mesa from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 16) for lane striping and sign work. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time, be prepared to slow down and merge safely and also consider alternate routes.
Southbound I-17 closed temporarily (for up to 30 minutes) near Dixileta Drive in north Phoenix from 12:01 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 16) for overhead sign work.
Eastbound Loop 303 also closed temporarily approximately two miles west of I-17 from 1:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 16) for overhead sign work. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time.
Northbound I-17 closed temporarily (for up to 30 minutes) in areas near Deer Valley Road and Jomax Road in north Phoenix from 12:01 a.m. to 1:31 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 17) for overhead sign work. Northbound I-17 also closed temporarily near Pioneer Road from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. Sunday (Jan. 17) for overhead sign work. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time.
Westbound Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) narrowed to two lanes between Higley Road and Val Vista Drive in Mesa from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 16) for lane striping. DETOUR: Please use caution, be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching the work zone. Watch for work crews and equipment.
